P.A.L. Firearms Safety Course

P.A.L. Firearms Safety Course

In Canada, all applicants for a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) or a Minor's Licence must have an adequate knowledge of firearm laws and safe-handling practices. To be eligible to apply for a PAL, applicants must have passed the written and practical tests for the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC).

Individuals wishing to acquire non-restricted  firearms in Canada must take the CFSC and pass the tests. Minimum age for a minor's license is 13.

Topics covered in the CFSC include:

  • the evolution of firearms, major parts, types and actions
  • basic firearms safety practices
  • ammunition
  • operating firearm actions
  • safe handling and carry procedures
  • firing techniques and procedures
  • care of non-restricted firearms
  • responsibilities of the firearms owner/user
  • safe storage, display, transportation and handling of non-restricted firearms

P.A.L. Restricted Firearms Safety Course

Individuals wishing to acquire restricted  firearms must first take the CFSC and then the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) and pass the tests. Minimum age is 18.

  • basic firearms safety practices
  • ammunition
  • operating handgun actions
  • firing techniques and procedures for handguns
  • care of restricted firearms
  • responsibilities of the firearms owner/user
  • safe storage, display, transportation and handling of restricted firearms

Non-restricted 8 hours Saturdays 9:30 am - 5:30 pm  $125 + GST
Restricted 7 hours Sundays 9:30 am - 4:30 pm  $99 + GST

C.O.R.E. Course

C.O.R.E. Course

The Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education (CORE) Program is British Columbia's Hunter Education Program. It is a great program for anyone interested in outdoor recreation. BC Residents who are 18 years of age or older and who wish to obtain a hunting licence (or ages 10-18 wanting a junior hunting license) are required to complete the CORE Program. The CORE Program consists of a practical firearms handling test, and a written examination on all of the following subjects:

  • conservation
  • ethics
  • law and regulations
  • first aid and survival
  • firearm safety
  • animal identification
  • bird identification

High Caliber C.O.R.E. Courses

6 hours Saturdays 9:30 am - 3:30 pm and
4 hours Sundays 9:30 am - 1:30 pm
$145 + GST

Doors open at 9:00 am classes start at 9:30. Free Parking is available on the street.
We break for lunch, you can bring your own or there are several places nearby.
